Since late December there has been increasing violence in Junglei State of Sudan. The village of Pibor has been hit the hardest with an estimated 60,000 people on the run, mass killings, and hundreds of children abducted. Depending on which report you read, numbers of trafficked children range from 150 to many more times that. The same conflicting information comes around the death toll, depending on who is trying to protect what image. This is one article from CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/14/world/africa/south-sudan-violence/
As if this news is not disturbing enough, the saddest part is that the killings are from within. These are two different tribes from within the Republic of the Sudan (southern Sudan) that are killing each other, and trafficking the children from each tribe.
These attacks are happening in the state next to Eastern Equatoria, the home of our orphanage Hope for Sudan.
Please pray for our children’s safety, and all those “outside” our gates who have no protection at all. We have a mission team headed to Hope for Sudan on February 2; hopefully we’ll have more detailed information then.
Love, your sister along the journey,

sent up some prayers
ReplyDeleteKimberly,
ReplyDeleteThe Lord woke me up last night to pray. I didn't know what was going on, but it happened a second time after that. This morning the Lord put a burden on me for Sudan and after reading your updates I know how to pray even more specifically. Supporting you in the journey and praying for our sweet Bona who is at the orphanage there.
Love,
Rory
Rory, sweet Bona and the others are counting on your prayers!
ReplyDeletethanks for being so sensitive to the Spirit's leading.
Amy, yours, too!

Kimberly,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your obedience to God and your husband. Listened to you on Focus On The Family today and yesterday. Praying for you, your family(both here and abroad)and Make Way Partners. Makes me feel so over blessed. Wish I could do more.
In Christ, Jan
I listened to you on Focus on the Family this evening. I woke up in the night last night with names of foreign cities. I didn't recognize or remember where but I had a dream three nights ago about a poor black woman morning over her village being attacked but she couldn't cry. I was very emotional when I woke, but couldn't understand why she couldn't cry. Your message shocked me and I cried for the woman you met walking down the road. I feel like I dreamed of her life and know who you are talking about. This is not normal for me, I am just a single-mom college student in my twenties. I don't have real problems like these people do. Hearing your message I realized that I may think that I am poor by American standards but I surely live like a queen compared to these true poor people. My troubles are nothing compared to the hell on earth these people are living everyday. I cried so hard in the kitchen listening to your story tonight. Thank you for sharing and humbling me, one you get out of your own story and look at others you really live like Christ. This message has changed me so much. God is sending you out to speak during these dark times.
ReplyDelete"'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams." Acts 2:17
Tonight was my first public speaking class and I will be choosing this story to use during my persuasive speech. I will share your story of what these women and children live with everyday, thank you for speaking the truth and spreading the stories of these poor people:(
God Bless,
You will always be in my prayers
